Wildcrafted Healing Salve
"Every cut, scrape, and sting โ handled"
Wildcrafted Healing Salve
This hand-poured salve blends plantain leaf (Plantago major), calendula (Calendula officinalis), and comfrey leaf (Symphytum officinale) infused in olive oil with local beeswax. Plantain โ not the banana relative, but the common lawn "weed" โ is one of the most effective wound-healing plants in the world, used by every culture that encountered it.
US Growing Region
Plantain grows in all 50 states (one of the most common plants in America). Calendula is widely cultivated. Comfrey is naturalized across the eastern US. All ingredients sourced from US growers.
How Generations Have Used It
Plantain was called "white man's footprint" by Native Americans because it appeared wherever European settlers walked. Despite the name, all tribes quickly adopted it for wound care. The Shoshone, Blackfoot, and Cherokee used plantain poultices for bites, stings, and cuts. Comfrey was called "knitbone" in European folk medicine for its ability to speed bone and tissue healing.
Why It Works
Plantain contains aucubin and allantoin, compounds that speed wound healing and reduce inflammation. Calendula is antimicrobial and promotes skin cell regeneration. Comfrey accelerates tissue repair. Together they create a powerful first-aid salve for minor cuts, scrapes, burns, insect bites, and rashes.
Recommended Usage
Apply a thin layer to clean skin over minor cuts, scrapes, burns, insect bites, or rashes. Reapply 2-3 times daily. For insect bites, apply immediately to reduce itching and swelling. Store in a cool place.
