Activated Charcoal Capsules
"The emergency room's natural detox agent"
Activated Charcoal Capsules
Activated charcoal is made by heating carbon-rich materials (coconut shells, wood, or peat) to very high temperatures in the absence of oxygen, then "activating" them with steam or chemicals to create millions of tiny pores. This process gives activated charcoal an enormous surface area โ one gram has the surface area of roughly 3,000 square meters (32,000 sq ft).
US Growing Region
Produced from coconut shells (tropical) or hardwood (domestic). Coconut shell charcoal is considered highest quality. Manufacturing facilities across the US. Raw materials sourced sustainably.
How Generations Have Used It
Charcoal has been used medicinally since at least 1500 BC โ ancient Egyptians used it for intestinal ailments and to purify water. Hippocrates and Pliny documented its use. In 1811, a French chemist publicly drank a lethal dose of strychnine mixed with charcoal to demonstrate its adsorptive power (he survived). Today it is a standard treatment in emergency rooms for poisoning and drug overdose.
Why It Works
Incredibly porous structure traps chemicals and toxins through adsorption. Used in emergency medicine for poison treatment. May help reduce gas and bloating. Used for water filtration and air purification. Popular for teeth whitening (used externally).
Recommended Usage
Take 2 capsules with a full glass of water for occasional digestive discomfort or gas. Best taken on an empty stomach, at least 1 hour away from medications (charcoal can adsorb medications and reduce their effectiveness). Not for daily use.
